- That's not true. You can't press in a late seal in your series I front hubs because the OD of the seals are different. They may look the same but they are DIFFERENT sizes. The cone is not significant

- The hub needs to come off to get the seal plate removed (its between the hub and the axle bearing). Taking the shafts to a machine shop is risky because they will likely mushroom the end of the axle
