Sounds more like a broken spring hanger or bracket - Check underneath, it will be fairly obvious, Check NOW..... having had just this problem last year on a trip to Maine in the 69, the trip home man

No personal experience of a Midget but i can vouch for the feasibility of both a 39 Austin Big 7 and a Wolseley Hornet (mini) and BGTs - Austin A30s are possible, but you have to take the front seats
