I found that if you go to a K & N dealer and look up the part number for a TR6, you will find the number Cris Hemingway posted in an earlier note. That part number is E-2540. Although close in size

The idea to soften them in boiling water is a good one. And to use dish soap to help slip them in also. But I suggest you don't try to fit them with the shaft. Instead fit them into the holes alone.
