In my experience this is an old trick with many LBCs. MY theory is that there is a small air bubble that won't bleed out with conventional bleeding. It just moves back and forth with your bleeding. B

OK where I went to school 6X8=48. E types were either 6 cylinder or 12 cylinders. 6X6=36 which makes me wonder how they fired the other 12 cylinders, or 6X 12=72 which means you have some extra spar

You do not "have to" increase the gap when running electronic ignitions. I can name plenty of cars that came with factory high energy electronic ignition systems that have relatively small plug gaps.
