I've drained mine several times. There's a valve at the bottom of the tank, aligned with a hole in the floorboard. On my '50 the line to the fuel pump hooks up to this valve. I just unhook that line

On the subject of gauges, the speedometer and gas gauge in my truck were pretty well shot when I got the truck. I sent the speedometer to Heavy Chevy, and had it rebuilt and the odometer set at "0".
