I use one for Tire temps but Exhaust would probably be meaningless to use a gun since you would only be getting the temp of an exhaust pipe that would have significantly cooled down by the time you c

I'm not sure they're worth much. I've got one, never use it. For sure they are quick and simple, but surface temperature isn't what you want with tires. for other stuff they might be OK, but I haven'

Everything I've read suggests the probe type is more accurate for tires. Absolutely! Surface temp will get you in the "ballpark" but to get the true temp you have to stick them. Yeah it's a PITA... G
