The bolt goes through the bracket, through the A pillar and through the windshield mount and fixed with a nut. Actually I think the nut is fixed on the inside... there is no captive or welded nut he

There are four mounting holes that line up the base of the windshield stanchions to the body in this location. One of these bolt holes (second one down) should also line up the oval hole in the dash
