How do I get the lock barrel out of the boot lock? Looks like there is a crimp in the square shaft that is holding it together. Mike MacLean 56 BN2 60 AN5 ____________________________________________

Yes Mike, that is correct. File the high spots off the crimp and with the handle in the unlock position the parts will separate. Michael Salter 100 (1953) AHX12 (1953) Bugeye (1961) http://www.netbug

O.K., so after the parts are re-chromed and the barrel is replaced how do you get it all to hold back together again. Not sure how to re-crimp the square shaft. Mike Michael Salter _________________

All I do Mike is put the square shaft on a vice and use a cold chisel to cut a small gouge on opposite sides of the shaft up near the cup washer. Michael Salter 100 (1953) AHX12 (1953) Bugeye (1961)

Or -- drill a hole through the square shaft and use a cotter pin to hold the cup washer in the same orientation as before. Done this a few times! Salter's operation is probably a bit shorter - leavin
