I have a Lucas push pull switch with surface rust on the case. Is there anything I can soak it in to remove the rust without damaging the switch. Also, the knob is not secured in place with the sprin

Soak in warm distilled white vinegar, which is about 5 to 6 % acidity. This will gently take take the rust off. You can clean with water just use WD-40 to displace any water and lubricate the inside
