This seems strange to me. Are you sure the tube hasn't gotten blocked somehow? Or could you have a broken ring? Any chance something else in the area is leaking and it just looks like the tube (like

?if you get it wrong over time the starter will push the ring gear out and will no longer engage. ask me how I know . . . However, Triumph seems to have assembled a goodly number of TR6 the other way
