I have a 12-volt starter on my '54 3100. It has a solenoid on it. Somebody seems to have converted it because the original floor pedal for the starter is still hooked up, just part of it has been rem

Hook the pedal to a momentary contact push button switch or something like a brake light switch, then hook that to the starter solenoid? Just a thought. I would be reluctant to dump the new ring gear

Put an original type 6 volt starter on it. It will spin faster, and probably fail sooner, because you're running it with too much voltage. When I got my '55 1st it was running the original starter bu
