Hate to say this on this board, but the new Chevy trucks aren't anywhere near as durable as the old ones. In 1996, chevy came out with the Vortec engines which had significantly more horsepower than

Well, I'll second Bruce, the newer Chevies are powerful, but they have problems. As for the tranny, now a days, automatics that last over 100K is kinda rare. Blame it on our disposible society, but m

I have found the best way to avoid most of these problems is to just recycle the complete vehicle every 2 years. I haven't had any problems to speak of in doing this for the last 20 years. :>) Jim V.

I keep saying it and people think it's a joke, but seriously - it isn't old enough. My brother is getting transmission codes in his Camaro (the newer Camaro). I've had starters die one after another

Maybe Michael should update his '98 with a solid front axle, a 216, huck brakes, a granny-low 4 speed and a 4.56 rear end. I keep saying it and people think it's a joke, but seriously - it isn't old

I think I'd keep the IFS and front disk brakes, they last pretty well, but for sure on the rest. I tend to lean towards the TF driveline, pressure oiled 235, granny low 4 speed, open drive line. I'd
