which model 261 is better? I don't care about an oil filter. My non filtered one has just done well without any filter at all. I read somewhere that is one is better for hopping up than the other and

A 1954 or early 1955 261 block (casting number 3733946) is supposed to have more cylinder wall thickness and unless there is a core shift, can be bored 3/16". That makes for 278 cu.in. Not bad, but c

My 261 doesn't even have an oil filter. You will notice BIG improvements with the 261 and the motor swap is the same as a 216 to 235. Early 261's had no filter or a bypass type. The full oil pressure

All 261 are full pressure, in the sense that that the crankshaft has insert main and rod bearings, for full pressure lubrication from the oil pump (no dip and splash)...But only the '58 - '62 261's h
