I have a '50 Chevy 3/4 ton. Long bed and 8 lug rims. Don't know for sure about the long bed, but the 1/2 ton has 5 lug rims. Smokey Culver '50 3600 5-window (mine) '56 3600 (hers) League City, Texas

Just to recap, GMC did have a long half ton in AD years while Chevy did not. IF it has 6 lug wheels it is half ton. Exception is before WWII 3/4 and one tons had 6 lug wheels. 8 lug was invented for

GMC did make a half ton truck with a 8 foot bed. It used the half ton torque rear with a little extension between it and the tranny. Count your lug nuts, eight is 3/4 and 6 is a half ton. Grant 50 Ch

A 3/4 ton will have alarge hub for a floating axle while a 1/2 ton does not. 1/2 ton will have a cut out of the fender for the spare tire the 3/4 does not the 1/2 ton has a bearing rear axle 6 lugs 3
