It sounds like you have a "sticky" cable. Try removing the inside of the cable (should just pull out of either end). See if it is dry & lube well with a light grease. Reinstall & check. Try a differe

Could also be a kink in the outer sheath of the cable. If you are pulling out the inner cable, it helps to disconnect at the tranny and lay the cable out straight over the radiator support. Could als
