As one who prefers the look of the generator I have to take issue. A battery will not stay charged longer because it was charged. by an alternator. I also don't think a alternator charges faster but

Most of these trucks have an ammeter that works. If you have one, it should show it charging just after you start it up, and dropping back as the battery charges. I just went through this on my '57,
