Never had to do one personally, but learned/was told to use a length of chain, big links. Insert into tank with one end hanging out (easier to retrieve). Shake the bejesus out of it, loosens rust and

I used the kit from Eastwood Co. They supply a chain which is what I used to loosen all the remaining rust and debris. It did an excellent job. I don't see a problem with the smooth pebbles except i
