The R45TS spark plugs in my HEI small block from a 78 Camaro is a .035 gapped plug. That is the most common small block spark plug. I have seen some applications gapped at .060 and a few at .045 but

Bill, I've got a 350 in my 72 Chevelle with HEI. It was not original since the HEI appeared in GM motors in 1975. But the spark plug gap for HEIs for years 1975 and later is either .045" or .060" dep

Here's what I always thought: Small gap = cooler spark I have a book on building high performance small blocks. One of the suggestions is to file off the upper electrode such that it is in alignment
