I would still bet on a heater core. Had an s-10 with similar problem, occasional leakage. It would pass a pressure test when cold. Eventually got to the point every time it got up to a certain tempe

I used to work on those at a Jeep dealer in Arizona, my bet is the hoses or the core. You will have to tear it down to expose the core and look around. Also, look for a leak in the engine compartment
