Ted The little button is on the switch body, disconnect battery, pull light switch on , push release button on switch, pull light switch knob & stem out. Now you can unscrew the nut and remove switch

The only difference I see is the older switch has a flat spring instead of a button to release the shaft which has to be removed to remove the retaining nut. A description is given in the "42 - '46 s

The old switch in my 1942 had a nut behind the dash that had to be loosen all the way out to get the switch out. It was directly against the dash on the inside and real fun to get to. I replaced it w
