Ya want to be careful with a really effective sand blaster. the sand striking the metal can embrittle the metal causing future cracks. Also some have warned about the heat caused by blasting warping

we have a TIP sand blaster.(big outside 200PSI unit) as for media we use glass beads. they work great for removing paint and surface rust. and it's not too harsh on aluminum. but it's strong enough

I have that blaster. It works OK, not quite as good as a friends $400 TIP with deadman and carbide nozzle. That ball valve just doesn't last. Fitting on the bottom also wore through. Be very careful
