I installed a 305 in my '56 Chevy truck. I plugged the temperature sending unit into the original temperature gauge in the dash of the truck. The temperature gauge shows the engine is running "hot".

I'm assuming you have a 12 V system. Are your gauges 6V? oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959

I'll give it another shot. Is there anyway you can fit the original 6 cyl temp sender to the sb using brass fittings? If it still reads hot, I would wonder if maybe the sb runs hotter then teh 6 cyl?
