Definitely look for another tire shop. Also multi piece rims use a thick rubber "boot" that fits between the tube and rim inside the tire, seems like that would work here also. Both the tube and boot

Far as I know you can. BUT, you have to get "Radial" tubes, whatever that means. Seems they can flex more w/out pinch and wear. No days Liability is biggest reason for not working on/doiing things. T
