- Nothing beats smooth concrete. Now is the time also to think about stringing wires or pipe under the concrete for in-floor heating. There is nothing nicer than to work on a warm floor. I assume that

- If you live in the frost land then the minimum thickness would be 6" thick over at least 12" of good draining material such as sand or gravel. Dirt would not be good to set concrete on if you are go

- For comparison, I paid about $1000 to have my driveway doubled in size. About 20 X 25 feet. It was done as a side job by a cement worker, and he said that most of the cost was in the concrete itself.
