- the guy i bought my 55 camper from has a 58 TF with a full dodge cummins diesel frame and drivetrain uner his truck its a 58 flatbed. i guess he uses it all the time and it has performed great. i do

- The Cummins 5.9 is a true diesel. It should be good for AT LEAST 300,000 miles before any major rework, such as rebuilding the head, etc. That's one thing which sets it apart from the F--, and GM 6.2

- It is my understanding that the reason that diesels last better is that diesel fuel is a decent lubricant. On the contrary, gasoline is a decent solvent. So the gas tends to remove the oil that acts

- Another reason a deisel get better life is because it develops its power at lower Goverened RPM.. the Engineers compensated for the need for speed with Higher Rear gear Ratios.. to allow the vehicle

- One reason is they're built super heavy. Also, they run at lower rpm's. The 5.9 Cummins hits max torque at abt 1800 rpm, and usually don't run over abt 2500. Most car engines are designed to run fast

- I am an Inliner and have some nice older trucks we drive also. We have a 1998 Cummnins powered Dodge and have a friend whose wife rolled their Dodge diesel so they put the motor in their Chevy Crew C
