- I had another idea for the rear on my 49. I was going to cut the bracket from the old rear axle and weld it onto an axle I got out of a 74 Monte Carlo. The Monte had coil spring perches that I ground

- Bob, torque tubes had to allow axle to "roll" in operation. The front mount of driveshaft on them was a pivot. You wont have that with open drive and will want the rear to be solid to springs or it w
