Why Not? I've been using synthetic in my fresh 235 and am interested to know the reason. Grant 50 3100 oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959

I'd guess it has something to do with the babbit bearings in the 216. I've been running Castrol Synthtec for 15K miles in my 235 since I rebuilt it as well. No leaks, no smoke, knock wood. -- __ Miq

The only reason I can think of as to why NOT to use a detergent oil or a synthetic oil, would be on an engine that spent years running non-detergent oil (or poor oil changes). Then the worry would be
