That sure makes sense. The vacuum at the carbs would be what determines the distributor advance setting. Unfortunately my truck is snowbound in my garage. OOPS! did I say snow?? Thanks for your help

Pros and cons on repairing your own. Con: vendors who sell rebuilds have a core charge, so cutting up your vacuum control will cost you a few bucks. Pro: the knowledge you can fix one of these thing
