Upon removing the dash from my 73 Midget I noticed that it has what appears to be a dimmer knob. It looks to have been added, and my 72 Midget lacks the knob. The control behind the dash looks just l

My '74 (I think it's the same as a '73) has a round rheostat knob that is black, skinny, and has a little white pointer on it. I'm pretty sure it's the original, as it matches the drawing in the own

The rheostat is original to a '73 Midget (don't know about a '72). The knob controls the degree of dimness of the dash lights (dim to off :-)) Steve Byers Havelock, NC '73 Midget GAN5UD126009G "OO N

Steve & Nory, Thanks again. Now I know what it is. However, does the knob on your cars look like that on the MGB? (about 1" long & 1/4" diameter)? This one is about 1" diameter and 1/2" long. Looks n

I don't know what the knob on an MGB looks like, but the knob on my car is about an inch long, and 1/2 inch in diameter where you twirl it. It is black with white markings. The markings look like a

You are precisely describing the knob for the MGB. Mine must have been replaced by a DPO (I've run across a lot of DPO-ness so far w/this Midget!). Mine is flat w/a raised rectangle containing a thi

Look around on the edge of the knob until you find the little hole. Stick something like an icepick into this hole until you feel resistance, then push some more while prying with the pick. The knob

Steve's description of his rheostat knob sounds just like mine. Yours must have been replaced by an MGB knob sometime in its life. -NORY Don't assume that because you have found one problem, you hav
