Don't know the original, but I used good old contact cement and has worked for the last 10k miles. In fact, I am of the opinion that you should used 2 felt strips under the bonnet. Why you ask? Well

Did it have a fluffy surface instead of the hard and shiny of the thinner stuff? This was used originally but 'fluffs off' and clogs up the alternator, burning it out, hence the change in material. A

The felt squares are for sound deadening and I used spray adhesive - still there 10 years later. I used some lengths of lath wedged in the gaps between the underside of the bonnet and the stiffeners
