A question for the builders and/or those of you who use to run Mag wheels. What is the best anti-corrosive lube to use between aluminum (injector bung), magnesium (velocity stack), and steel/titanium
If there is a dissimilar metal combination it is a good idea to electrically insulate one from the other. Simply anodizing the aluminum is one approach (specifying a color looks trick). Never- Seize
You're right-- the current from that battery is what eats up the metals. I just remembered a surface treatment for magnesium-- Dow No. 7, a passivation; there are a few places that can do it-- usual
GE Glyptol Insulating Paint is a great product. Spray and brush. We use it for a primer near the ocean because it works. . Over this, use an epoxy primer for electrical insulation.
Isn't any fastener of different metal subject to corrosion no matter what "coating" is put on? (I'll make an exception for platings/anodizings that provide a crush- and abrasion-resistant interface).
I didn't know about Glyptol's favorable performance in the salt air environment. That's a good tip. In addition I'd mention that just about any good plastic tape will provide corrosive current insula
I agree; we had a string on Glyptal some time ago-- good stuff. Regards, Neil Tucson, AZ GE Glyptol Insulating Paint is a great product. Spray and brush. We use it for a primer near the ocean becaus
