The long way but scratch resistant if you are careful is: remove the headlights (with buckets), run two ratcheting tie-down straps through the headlight holes (one each) to the rear of the bonnet. KE

Having just done this....we put a couple of heavy towels between the raised bonnet and the scuttle. I removed the sliding bonnet supports and then four of the hinge bolts (2 on each side), then loose
