It sounds like you are describing the dowels that are at 2 o-clock and 8 o-clock as you are looking at the rear plate from inside the car. These are just plain dowels I think, not bolts. You can get

Stan is correct that dowels are sold & some people have used drill bits...myself included, but speaking from personal experience, dowels will fall out. The gearbox probably won't move, but it could.
