I have been communicating with Joe Alexander regarding induction for my some-time to be TR250 vintage race car. I asked what would be preferred -- 2 SUs or 2 Strombergs. Here is his reply [maybe from

Hey Chuck, I have the same problem. I tried some SU HIF6's and they worked okay until something got caught in them. I then went to Z-S carbs. I took the temperature compensations and screwed them all

I am running some Z-S (early Strombergs) Carbs that I have owned for over 30 years. I love them. Simple, reliable, and SU needles will adapt. I cannot explain why others have had starvation problems

I'll go along with Charly's comments concerning the TR4 Strombergs. My TR6 runs a late (TR6) intake (similar to the TR4A's) and TRA 175CD's. The porous floats on early Strombergs will sink instantly

You could try the "logic" we used in CVAR. The 1972 SCCA rules allow fuel injection, meaning 6 barrels. Webers use 6 barrels. Our carb rule allows us to switch size up and down as long as we stay wit

Here are the specs from the PCS. As you see, the TR-5 got PI, while the TR-250 got carbs. If my memory serves me, Triumph ran their TR-250 in US events as a TR-5. Interestingly the SCCA did not give

This kind of "Logic" is what turns me off about CVAR and the other '72 GCR Clubs. I think a "Vintage" TR is a TR3 on wire wheels. By 1970 the fun of racing was limited to the factory teams of Ginther

That's "progress", I suppose, but some of us still remember the days when sports car racing was so accessible to us "little guys" that the newspaper ads in the LA Times for 'foreign cars' frequently
