Trying another coil would be the only way I know how to verify for sure if the coil is bad. However, your symptoms are not what I expect from a coil. I would think the coil would cause a more abrupt

Try taking a heat gun (hair dryer will work) to the coil with the car idling at say 1500RPM. If you hear any missing, just turn off the heat and cool the coil (ice cubes?) to see if missing goes away
