I'm getting ready to pull my transmission once again. I've been getting a "clonking" noise when I disengage the clutch. I think it might be play in the fork that holds the clutch throw-out bearing.

It could be loose bolts on the flywheel, a broken clutch disk spring, or a bad throw out bearing. I would check your crankshaft end play to make sure it's not the thrust washers. These are replaced

The clunk could be caused by many things. I would check your crankshaft end play without delay in order to rule out worn thrust bearings. A quick and dirty check would be to have someone depress the

I have a squealing noise coming from the clutch (bell housing) only when the clutch pedal is almost depressed fully. I assumed it was the throw out bearing and so I changed it. No luck, same noise. W

You may have gotten a bad release bearing, but I'll throw this out. Check the crankshaft end float. the squealing noise you hear may be the crank riding against the block with no thrust washer.i.e.:

Do you mean that the throwout bearing had scored the spring fingers that it against to release the clutch? I once had to replace the housing because of that; it made the clutch get all grabby and err
