Is there a way to determine if a car is an O/D car without driving it? I referring to the earlier models that had the switch on the wiper stalk. I assume that the engine number would tell or somethin

According to my manual, the 78B has the switch on top of the gear shift stalk, last I looked at the manual (I don't have a O/D myself).

On my 1974 MGB, the OD includes a sticker placed on the plastic covering of the steering column indicating the ON/OFF settings for the switch arm. Perhaps the presence of that sticker is a good indic

I wouldn't trust it blindly, but my roadster W/O OD does not have the ability for the stalk to flip into the OD position. My '71 GT has OD and the stalk flips. so if the stalk won't flip foreward or

How about looking underneath the car for the O/D unit? The stalk switch won't tell you, because early '70's 'Bs had the same switch whether or not equipped with O/D. Simon
