You were not reading closely enough, Cap'n The question was whether it was worth the effort to update the original rear drums to the later rear drums as long as he was doing the disk conversion. IIR

The steering arms definately mount pointing toward the wheel, but your problem is, the caliper attaches to the rear side of the axle assembly, not the front. Not sure how you could miss this since t

The caliper goes towards the rear of the hub assembly. If the mounting holes for the bolts are in front of the stub axle, then you have the hub from the wrong side of the car! The steering arm bolts

I don't know the change date, but the steering rack and tie rods between the '69 and '74 had different diameter threads, and the tie rod ends were not interchangeable. I chose the rack from the '74 b
