Well, it seems my engine is going to need alot done to it, and, by the time the costs are added up, I could just as easily plant a rebuilt used American motor under the hood. I know this is blashphem

I doubt very seriously that this is true. Rebuilding a B power plant is no more expensive than rebuilding any other 4-banger, and considerably less than alternatives with more cylinders. By the time

If an engine transplant is really in your heart, then I wish you the best. But as a cost and labour saving step, I don't think it will ever make sense. There are piles of MGB blocks out there waiting

I'm not looking for more power. I was really wanting a four cylinder replacement, probably 1.8 liter or there abouts. I wouldn't avoid an option that gives more power, but that's not my goal. More re

The B engine is pretty reliable really. Well, frankly it's not like american engines are generally world leaders in the category either, so let's say that the swap isn't likely to be a serious boost

I'm not a betting man but... If you attempt an engine swap I'll bet you never see the road again in your MG. This is the type of thing you should consider "for fun" while your other MG is on the road

I've never been in a new MGB (or one with a 'new' engine), so I'm basically unfamiliar with this firsthand. Frankly, you're the first person has ever told me MGB's are reliable. Everyone else I've ev
