Use a 79 motor with the oil cooler radiator and the 83 tranny, it's a little shorter and will "almost" come up where the original shifter does. You can re-drill the RX rear yoke to match up to the re

You definitely would use the Mazda 5 Speed but the rear is up to you. The stock held up to the abuse we gave it on the 73 without snapping and we spun the tires and put the car in circles almost ever

Alternative engines would not hurt my feelings at this point. However, on the "We tight" end of the spectrum a Rotary would hurt my budget. I was even thinking Nissan A14 with a 5 speed from a 210 be
