Couldn't agree more, and how quickly the new gas (read more expensive) gums up. A bit of it may also be from tank and lines. My experience is that except for the float needle, SU's are very forgiving

This past weekend I had the gasket on float bowl chamber let go. I removed the top to replace it and was shocked at the very fine dust that had collected in the base of bowl. This is with 2 inline fu

A commonly reported phenomenon this mysterious orange sediment in the float bowls. I heard it's got something to do with the Lucas (non) electrics. Isn't that why everybody is going solid state? Mike

I can't cause I've had my tank reconditioned and lined. The SS lines to the carbs are new also. I also only buy brand name gas (Mobil, Shell, etc) and observe all the gas station rules i.e. no fillin
