I'm not sure if the 73 has vapor return lines but if it does, hopefully this is your problem. They can look fine yet be cracked and leak gas. If your tank leaked I doubt you would get gas in the trun

Had exactly the same situation on the Midget. Fixed the line to the vapour tank and viola no gas fumes. Vaca in 4 , count-em 4, days. Larry Macy 78 Midget
