Just got my gas tank back from MOYER Renu and am wondering about the purpose/necessity of applying the felt strips as Moss has pictured in it's catalogue. When i removed the tank it wasn't wearing an

Certainly not essential, IMO, but they do seem to help stop squeaks and prevent the straps trying to rub through the tank. A TR actually flexes a good deal under spirited driving, so the tank 'works

I've found the felt under the tank and straps to be a great moisture retainer and promoter of rust. Eighth- inch rubber sheeting does a great job of isolating/securing the tank without the threat of
