it's night, and i can't drive the car ;-( in the last few weeks i replaced the ignition coil, dist cap and rotor, and plug wires. i'm sure that is what caused the headlights to quit working! either

Do the parking lights work when the switch is for headlamps full on? If so, the problem is not the on-off switch. If not, it probably is the switch. The switches can accumulate oxidation and yukkines

I've had nearly everything fail in my electrics, including the headlight switch simply falling apart when depressed. However, the sneakiest fault was in those dozens of wonderful "Lucar" connectors--

Do you know which seal beam Halogens that you got? Sylvania makes two different version a standard and an Extra Brite version. I have the standard in my MGB and MGA and find that they are quite good
