- my x-wives '77 (new when she bought it in '77) came stock with electronic ignition that was identical to the unit on my brand new 1980 (back in April '81 when I bought it) both had the box mounted on

- Not sure what year electronic ignition came in in the States, but I'm pretty sure that the mechanical unit was kept right the way through in Europe - maybe someone could confirm that? Is it possible
