Bad news I'm afraid, This sounds like a classic example of a sticking roller clutch in the overdrive - the only way to tell for sure is to remove the engine and gearbox, sorry! Dave B 72 BGT 76 Midge

I had the exact same problem. It turns out that all of the seals in the overdrive had hardened and were not sealing. There was enough leakage through the seals that it would go into overdrive by itse
