You don't need to de-install it, you simply need to make the piece of the bar that obstructs the top removable. I don't know of a bar that does this, but it should be possible to design one. As a tho

For a Miata? No. But if you find one please post it. I'm 5'7" and I won't clear 2 inches with a helmet AND be able to put the top up and in the '99's you need a special bar due to the glass rear win

Nothing pre-made that I know of but fabrication is always an option. As for the helmet height, Miata folks generally remove a bit of seat foam to pass the 2" rule. If your going through the trouble,

None of the Hard Dog Hard Core bars truly pass the 2" rule established by SCCA for most drivers unless you stand 5'4" or so. the fact is, the top still needs to come up over the bar. But the Hard Dog
