I have a '77 18V engine in my '70 B. Unknown miles on the engine, great oil pressure (70lbs all the time hot or cold.) I have a non-crossover AL head with an AL valve cover. The AL valve cover came w

This is a sign off compression "blow-by". Take a compression test and see if you can identify the cylinder that is losing compression; thus allowing the crankcase to fill with the higher pressure and

I agree that you need to ascertain the source of this crankcase pressure. Just blocking off the vent hole is not going to solve the underlying problem. I would also study the crankcase breather syste

Hi Andrew, Check to see if there are gases blowing out of the tappet cover vent when the engine is running. That's where the piston/ring blowby manifests itself. If there's no pressure there, or just

That sounds like a reasonable measure to take. I will do it. I have a compression tester already as well. I would have done it already, but my car is at a body shop, and I am on what is turning into
