I'd say you stand a pretty good chance of blowing a rear main seal, which means pulling the engine again. I don't think I'd take the risk. Dan Pockrus '74B awaiting paint

Bad idea, don't do it! This could raise the oil level to the point where the crankshaft would whip up the oil and cause it to foam. The foam would then cause the opposite of the desired effect, i.e.

Overfilling by a quart shouldn't cause any problem. About all it would be likely to do is make you go a little longer before you need to add oil while you track down all the annoying little leaks. Ov
