We had 2.5" pipes from the manifolds back to the muffler which was a Flowmaster "Big Block Muffler" Dual in dual outs. If you look at the factory pipes, you see they crush down a ton to go under the

In the 15 or 20 years of makeing and installing exhaust systems I have usually found that 2.5 pipes on an engine that small if it is stock , often makes it perform worse in genneral. You loose the sc

The 2.5" we put on did do some good. With the stock exhaust the car did 16.4@83 MPH after the 2.5" pipes and Floewmaster it did 16.3@85 MPH Track conditions were the same as was the weather. Remember

For ease the stock style muffler is the way to go. There is limited space under the car, probably due lack of planning, for a good dual exhaust system. I do plan on making up a full 2.5 inch mandrel

I took my old muffler to Napa and based on the measurements we found that the '74 Camaro is an exact replacement. It's the same length and has 2" in and 2-1/4" out which is the same as the original.
